Through references drawn from popular culture and collective memory, Liliana Porter uses devices that border on the fantastic to compose works that subvert the conventions imposed by everyday life and...Through references drawn from popular culture and collective memory, Liliana Porter uses devices that border on the fantastic to compose works that subvert the conventions imposed by everyday life and by art itself, creating ambiguous and controversial situations, called “vinhetas teatrais” [theatrical vignettes]. Through a private collection of images and small objects, the artist works on different supports ranging from photography and videos to installations, to present the viewer with allegorical and distorted narratives of reality and time.In The Anarchist (woman in red) (2022), a small figure takes on thexf outsized task of unraveling a ball of yarn, creating obstacles for viewers as they attempt to enter the space. In this series of good-humored drawings, Porter uses miniature objects to construct allegorical narratives that distort reality and time, offering reflections on the human condition that are at once subtle and incisive.
A partir de referências da cultura popular e da memória coletiva, Liliana Porter recorre a procedimentos que tangenciam o fantástico para compor obras que subvertem as convenções do cotidiano e da própria arte. Ao criar situações ambíguas e, por vezes, controversas, que a artista denomina “vinhetas teatrais”, Liliana Porter constrói cenas nas quais o humor e o estranhamento operam como dispositivos críticos.
Em "The Anarchist (woman in red)" (2022), uma pequena figura realiza a tarefa desmedida de desenrolar um novelo de lã, criando obstáculos àqueles que tentam adentrar o espaço. Já nesse conjunto de desenhos de tom bem-humorado, a artista mobiliza objetos em miniatura para elaborar narrativas alegóricas e distorcidas da realidade e do tempo, que propõem reflexões sutis e incisivas sobre a condição humana.
