Waldemar Cordeiro was more than an artist. He was an art critic, cultural catalyst, landscape designer, and urban planner. He entered Brazilian and international art history through his remarkable contributions. Above all, Waldemar Cordeiro was a humanist.”

With this statement, the concept film Fantasia Exata – Waldemar Cordeiro, about the life and work of Waldemar Cordeiro, comes to a close. Conceived by Gregoire Cordeiro Belhassen and directed by Analivia Cordeiro, the concept film presents a chronological narrative that seeks to recover all aspects permeating the artist’s history.

The film features testimonies from several scholars and eyewitnesses who not only contextualize Cordeiro’s achievements, but also conceptualize and exemplify his theories, positioning him within art history and illustrating how his personal life and beliefs shaped his research and artistic practice. Among the contributors are historians Maria Luiza Tucci Carneiro, Heloisa Spada, Margit Rosen, Fernando Cocchiarale, Adele Nelson, and Rachel Price, as well as neurologist André Macedo, architect Givaldo Medeiros, artist and close friend Augusto de Campos, and his brother, urban planner Luiz Alberto Cordeiro.
