A pesquisa de Caio Reisewitz traz a fotografia como suporte principal. Através do refinamento técnico e temático, sua obra apresenta um interesse pela ação do homem e seus efeitos sociais e políticos, seja no espaço natural, seja no espaço arquitetônico. Enquanto sua técnica fotográfica exalta a dramaticidade entre formas, cores e texturas, sua poética artística constroi um repertório estético quase onírico. Esses aspectos estabelecem um diálogo dicotômico entre o real (aquele característico do registro fotográfico) e o quimérico (nossos próprios repertórios).
Formado em artes plásticas pela Universidade de Mainz (Alemanha), Caio Reisewitz tem especialização em poéticas visuais e mestrado pela Universidade de São Paulo. Dentre as bienais que participou estão a Bienal de Fotografia de Daegu, Coreia do Sul (2025), 23a Bienal de Sydney, Austrália (2022), Bienal de Artes de Nice, França (2022), a 26ª Bienal de São Paulo (2004), 51ª Biennale di Venezia (2005), representando o Brasil, e Nanjing Biennale (2010), na China. Caio Reisewtiz já teve sua obra apresentada na Fundació Mies van der Rohe (2024, Barcelona, Espanha), 22o DongGang International Photo Festival (2024, Coreia do Sul); MUSAC – Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla e León (2024, 2023 e 2010, Espanha); Instituto Moreira Salles Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo (2010, Brasil); Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection Miami (2005, 2010, EUA); ICP – International Center of Photography, Nova York (2014, EUA); Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris (2015, França); Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (2017, Brasil), além de Photo Xangai (2019, China). Em 2026, participa de mostra coletiva na Ford Foundation, em Nova York (EUA). Em 2020, lançou o livro “Altamira” pela editora suíça Artphilein Editions SA, a partir de coleção homônima adquirida pela Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (Brasil). Sua obra pode ser encontrada em acervos como Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (EUA); Fundación ARCO Madrid (Espanha); Collezione Fondazione Guastalla (Itália); Fond National d’Art Contemporain (França); MUSAC (Espanha); International Center of Photography - ICP (EUA); Maison Européenne de la Photographie (França); MAM - Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro e Salvador (Brasil); Musée Malraux (França), Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo (Brasil), entre outros.
Caio Reisewitz’s research takes photography as its main medium. Through technical and thematic refinement, his work evinces an interest in human action and its social and political effects, whether in the natural space or the architectural space. While his photographic technique highlights the dramaticity among shapes, colors and textures, his artistic poetics constructs a nearly dreamlike aesthetic repertoire. These aspects establish a dichotomous dialogue between the real (that which is characteristic of the photographic record) and the chimerical (our own repertoires).
With a degree in visual arts from Mainz University (Germany), Caio Reisewitz has an advanced degree in visual poetics and an MA from the University of São Paulo.
