ArtRio 2026

For ArtRio 2026, the Luciana Brito Galeria presents Brazilian artists Caio Reisewitz (1967, São Paulo) and Tiago Tebet (1986, São Paulo) in a unique dialogue on the ways of constructing and perceiving the landscape. Although they draw on distinct artistic languages and methods, both explore space as a field of investigation and experience. While Caio Reisewitz takes the visible world as his starting point to reveal its social, political, and environmental dimensions, Tiago Tebet shifts the landscape into a subjective and imaginary realm, where perception, matter, and form intertwine.

In the photographs from the series *Guanabara* (2009–2026) and *Urca* (2011), Caio Reisewitz transforms the Rio de Janeiro landscape into a point of convergence between the exuberance of nature and the social and political contradictions that underlie the country’s relationship with water. Guanabara Bay, marked by the presence of more than thirty rivers and by decades of urban and industrial occupation, becomes, in his work, not only a territory of contemplation but also a space that highlights the impacts of human action on the environment.

In Tiago Tebet’s most recent paintings, however, the landscape ceases to be recognizable and instead becomes a sensory experience. Forms, frequencies, and energy fields traverse his surfaces of color, placing them on the threshold between the visible and the invisible, the abstract and the figurative. By understanding painting as a space for energetic reinterpretation, the artist creates images that oscillate between the autonomy of form and the suggestion of latent presences. The paintings “Introdução à arte, literatura, filosofia, amor e a criação do ser” (2025–2026) and “Meu amigo desconhecido e todo o seu charme inusitado” (2025–2026) were presented for the first time in the artist’s most recent exhibition at Luciana Brito Galeria, *Between You and Me, the Sun and the Moon*.
