ArtRio 2026

For ArtRio 2026, Luciana Brito Galeria is presenting Brazilian artists Caio Reisewitz (1967, São Paulo) and Tiago Tebet (1986, São Paulo) in a singular dialogue on how landscape is constructed and perceived. Though they employ distinct languages and procedures, both explore space as a field of investigation and experience. Caio Reisewitz takes the visible world as his point of departure, revealing its social, political, and environmental dimensions, while Tiago Tebet shifts landscape into a subjective and imaginary realm where perception, matter, and form intertwine.

In photographs from the Guanabara series (2009–2026) and Urca (2011), Caio Reisewitz transforms the Rio de Janeiro landscape into a point of convergence between nature’s exuberance and the social and political contradictions that pervade the country’s relationship with water. Fed by more than thirty rivers and shaped by decades of urban and industrial occupation, Guanabara Bay becomes, in Reisewitz’s work, not only a place of contemplation but also a landscape that reveals the environmental impacts of human activity.

In Tiago Tebet’s most recent paintings, by contrast, landscape is no longer recognizable, becoming instead a sensory experience. Forms, frequencies, and fields of energy move across his surfaces of color, positioning them at the threshold between the visible and the invisible, the abstract and the figurative. Conceiving painting as a space of energetic resignification, Tebet creates images that oscillate between the autonomy of form and the suggestion of latent presences.
