Light is the central axis of Iván Navarro’s practice, which he uses to address social and political questions and to convey reflections on art history. His works often operate through subtle shifts in meaning, where titles, colors, and symbols become vehicles for latent messages. In light installations such as "Square Light" (2019), Navarro establishes a direct dialogue with minimalism while activating the viewer’s perception. This engagement with light is also rooted in his biography: born during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, the artist recalls the strategic use of power outages as an instrument of social control, giving electricity a distinctly political charge.
