The pieces specially selected for the exhibition “Estratégias para Luzes Acidentais” [Strategies for Accidental Lights], investigates the limits of experimentation to obtain a genuine and renovated expression, which often mocks our conviction – therefore fragile – as evidenced by the visual perception of science and philosophy. “We take the shadows for reality", says Socrates at the "Myth of the Cave", by Plato. "We do not see the light, but only the things illuminated by it", says Goethe.

The reflections of the volumes that we see are shadows seen in opposition to Plato's cave. Either one or the other, however, makes us to believe in a reality that is necessarily volatile, unstable, imprecise.

The art makes use of those missteps that arise in the body of the light and act directly on our perceptions to create a field of tension and reflection. The ability of deceiving, generated by an inaccurate and erratic nature of the effects of the light, becomes, thereby, a fruitful instrument in the creation of poetic strategies that reflects less the credulity in the looking and more the lightening of the thought, as well as the artists´ astuteness.

The light, in many works of this exhibition, is the element that, subversively, articulates the mazy transit between the visible reality and its double fictional, which separates from the referent as it turns into representation. Light as a metaphor of the enlightenment, thought and intuition.
