Bosco Sodi | Luciana Brito Galeria | LAB
Studio, workshop, laboratory. These are some of the terms used to denote the space where an artist carries out his or her research, which normally involves all the steps leading up to an exhibition. The fundamental questions related to an artist’s creation are both explored and reflected in the studio, which is nowadays considered as much more than just a place for practical procedures. It has evolved into a hub for training, education and the promotion of culture, where knowledge is gathered and social encounters and exchanges take place.
All of these concepts related to studio activity have always been a core concern at Luciana Brito Galeria, which is why it took a pioneering step to make this experience part of its programming, with the further possibility of being shared by the public. This proposal gave rise to Luciana Brito Galeria | LAB, an open studio that aims to transform the entire pavilion attached to the gallery into a space for artistic production, conversations and visits by the public. For this first edition, Mexican artist Bosco Sodi is coming to Brazil, where he will produce most of the artworks for his next exhibition at Casa das Rosas (São Paulo), curated by Marcello Dantas. Slated to open in March 2024, the show will feature important works by the artist, including paintings and installations, with clay pieces that he will produce at Luciana Brito Galeria in January. The goal of Luciana Brito Galeria | LAB is to become a recurring event, an integral part of the gallery’s official programming, deepening the public’s understanding about the research and production processes of the artists it represents.
